Lastly: market assessment

At present the most commonly used CSR indices in the EU are the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and the FTSE4Good Index. Companies included in the latter index apply strict social, ethical and environmental criteria and are positioned to capitalise on the benefits of responsible business practices. As a result of the various CSR-related steps implemented in recent years Corio was added to the FTSE4Good Index on 25 March 2008. As the FTSE4Good organisation states, ‘FTSE Group confirms that Corio has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series.’ Although being included in an internationally recognised sustainability index is not an aim in itself for Corio, but the inclusion does represents recognition of the policies we pursue in this respect and the transparency of the environmental and social information provided to existing and potential shareholders of Corio.

Targets Information on the targets set for 2008 and the progress achieved can be found on the final pages of this chapter. As this information shows, the majority of the targets have been achieved.

A separate CSR report will be published for the year 2009, so that we can continue to keep Corio’s stakeholders properly informed of the progress in this area.
