Developing our environmental policy

Corio had already been seeking, in its stakeholders’ interests, to reduce its use of energy and water and the amount of waste it produces.

Corio is aware of the environmental impact of developing and operating shopping centres, including their effects in terms of heat and CO2 emissions.

It is logical that places such as shopping centres, where lots of people congregate, produce large volumes of waste which have a substantial impact on the environment.

Sustainability

A list of standards was drawn up in 2008 as a means of measuring the sustainability of the shopping centres. This list is used to determine the scope for improvements and, where necessary, as the basis for action plans.

Lastly: market assessment

At present the most commonly used CSR indices in the EU are the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and the FTSE4Good Index.
