Corio focuses primarily on shopping centres that are dominant in their catchment areas, because they achieve good long-term growth occupancy rates, rental income and values. These centres are where all Corio’s management, letting and marketing effort brings the best results. It is not just the scale of a shopping centre that makes it dominant: even more important is its function for the residents of the catchment area. Corio’s retail portfolio has an occupancy rate of 97.7% and is spread over 95 shopping centres, let on about 4,800 rental contracts. Retailers are more attracted to these centres, there is closer contact with local authorities and there are more opportunities for expansion or redevelopment.
