The Ruta de la Plata shopping centre is the principal shopping district in Cáceres and offers a comprehensive range of shops and services. It is favourably located close to the town’s historical centre and major arterial roads, with good public transport connections. In some Spanish towns and regions, such as Cáceres and Extremadura, shopping centres are still in relatively short supply when considered in terms of retail area per 1,000 residents. One of the main anchors at the Ruta de la Plata shopping centre is an Eroski hypermarket, which has a sales area of some 7,500 m2 and is not owned by Corio. The centre also boasts a wide variety of fashion retailers, including two crowd pullers, Zara and Cortefiel, as well as the largest cinema in Cáceres.
