Visitor numbers and sales
The nine Corio centres in Spain were visited by just over 50 million people in 2008; this was 1.4% fewer than in the previous year, in line with the general market trend. The visitor numbers at Maremagnum in Barcelona continued to develop very strongly; Maremagnum attracted more than 11 million visitors, which for a centre with a gross lettable floor area of 21,600 m2 represents the highest number of visitors per square metre in the whole of Barcelona. Sales in the centres are also developing in line with those in other Spanish shopping centres. The total accommodation costs (rent plus service costs) for tenants average 10.4% of sales, a healthy ratio. Sales-based rents amount to 4.3% of the gross potential rent in Spain.
